How Parcel2Go Works
Follow the steps below to book your parcel delivery with Parcel2Go:
1. Check our list of prohibited items
It’s not possible to send items like batteries, aerosols, and fresh food by post. Before you book your parcel delivery, it’s always best to check our list of prohibited items. This way you’ll ensure you’re not sending any items that could delay your shipment.
If you’re unsure about what you can or can’t send, you can read the helpful guides on our shipping advice page.
2. Pack your parcel
To keep your items safe and secure on their journey, it’s important to pack them well.
First, choose a sturdy cardboard box. New boxes are always best, and you’ll want to make sure it’s big enough to fit your items—with a little room to spare for some extra packaging.
Next, wrap your items individually in bubble wrap or corrugated paper and place them in your box. You can then pack around them with bubble wrap or scrunched up paper to make sure they don’t move around while they’re in transit.
Finally, secure the box’s flaps with strong packing tape—and remember to seal the bottom too!
We’ve got some great packaging guides on our blog including how to package fragile items and how to package clothes for shipping.
If you’re sending unusual items like golf clubs or bikes, you can check out our shipping advice pages for more hints and tips, or our detailed guides like this one on how to send a guitar by post.
3. Weigh and measure your parcel
To get an accurate parcel delivery quote, you’ll need to know the size and weight of your parcel.
You’ll need to use a tape measure to measure the length, width, and depth of your parcel.
There are a few easy ways to find out your parcel’s weight:
- If your parcel weighs less than 1kg, you could pop it on your kitchen scales to get an accurate measurement.
- For medium-sized parcels, use the bathroom scales! First weigh yourself without the parcel, then step on the scales holding the parcel and subtract the first number.
- Larger parcels like furniture, for example, can be difficult to weigh. If you’re sending a large parcel, you can use our volume calculator to calculate your parcel’s volumetric weight. This handy tool will calculate your parcel’s weight based on its length, width, and depth.
4. Get a quote
Now you’ve worked out the size and weight of your parcel, it’s easy to get a quote for your parcel delivery.
Once you’ve selected a few details from the drop-down menus and added your parcel’s dimensions, just click ‘Get a Quote’ and you’ll be taken to our results page.
On the results page, you can select more filters to help you find a collection service to help you send a parcel from home. You can also filter by delivery speed such as next day delivery, 2 day delivery, or 3 day delivery. Our handy filters will even help you find a courier that brings labels if you don’t have a printer.
Once you’ve found the service that suits you best, enter your details and pay by card or set up a PrePay account for even more savings.
