These days, TikTok is far more than catchy dance videos and the latest viral trend.

With TikTok Shop, you can connect with millions of customers in exciting new ways that will let your brand’s authenticity and creativity shine through.

Our TikTok Shop seller guide will help you set up your shop in easy steps.

What is TikTok Shop?

TikTok Shop enables you to showcase and sell your products directly to the TikTok community through shoppable videos and LIVE shopping events.

Why Sell on TikTok Shop

Selling on TikTok will give you the opportunity to connect with a young and highly engaged audience. Most of its users are in the 18-24 and 25-34 age brackets, as opposed to Instagram which has an older demographic.

TikTok shoppers are trend-driven, impulsive buyers who are strongly influenced by social media. And, thanks to TikTok’s one billion users, you’ll have the potential to get your products in front of a lot of eyes!

Other than reaching a huge audience and boosting your brand awareness, the biggest pros of selling on TikTok are:

  • Easy, in-app purchases. The best way to sell on TikTok is to be yourself. TikTokers love authentic, visual content and if they’re hooked by your videos and Live demos, they can buy products from your shop without leaving the app.

  • Simple set up. You don’t need to be a technical genius to set up your TikTok Shop. It’s so easy, you can get everything up and running in half an hour.

  • Low fees. If you’re used to selling on marketplaces such as Amazon, TikTok’s commission fees will pleasantly surprise you. For the first 90 days, you’ll pay 1.8% commission. After that, it increases to 5%—still lower than Amazon’s average 8-15%.

  • Promote your products easily. Aside from giving you access to TikTok’s huge base of active users, selling on TikTok makes it easy to work with influences who will also make video content to promote your products (usually in exchange for a free sample). There’s also the chance that your product video could go viral!

Like any marketplaces, there are drawbacks to selling on TikTok. The biggest cons to selling on TikTok are:

  • Limited payment options. Unlike some other marketplaces, your customers won’t be able to checkout using PayPal. This can be a worry to some people who like the online protection it offers. TikTok shop accepts debit and credit cards, and Apple Pay. Klarna is available for orders over £20.

  • TikTok shop isn’t available in all countries. Before deciding that you want to sell on TikTok shop, check that it’s available in your country.

  • There are restrictions on what you can sell. TikTok Shop are very clear about the products you can and cannot sell so make sure you check the restrictions carefully. For example, they only support the sale of physical products so things like digital downloads, eBooks, and software is unsupported.

What Products Work Best on TikTok?

It won’t surprise you to learn that selling on TikTok works best if your content aligns with the current trends.

The top three best-selling products so far in 2025 are:

Top tip: One of our selling on TikTok tips is to make use of its powerful analytics. How to Set Up TikTok Shop

It’s free to register as a seller. Once you’re registered, you’ll get access to seller community and support, and TikTok Shop campaigns to help grow your business.

Registration takes about 30 minutes, but you may have to wait a couple of days for your application to be reviewed.

Step-by-Step Guide to Setting Up Your TikTok Shop

TikTok account setup is straightforward. You’ll need a business account which you can set up before you begin or during the sign-up process. If you’re already using TikTok, you can convert your existing account.

Creating a business account on TikTok lets you manage your shop, create product listings, and interact with your customers.

Once you’ve done that, you can complete the following steps in the TikTok Seller Centre to get your shop ready to go.

1. Log in

First, you’ll need to select your country. You can then sign in using the phone number or email associated with your TikTok account.

If you don’t have an account, you can create one at this point.

2. Create a business account on TikTok

As part of the TikTok application process, you’ll need to choose the type of business account you’ll need.

There are two types of business accounts available:

Individual: You’ll need to be at least 18 years old to apply for this account. To fulfil the account criteria, you’ll need to supply a valid UK passport or driver’s licence. If you’re not a UK citizen, you can send a copy of a UK issued driver’s licence. Proof of UK address will also be required, especially if you use your passport as your ID.

Business: You’ll need to provide documents that confirm your legitimacy as a business. This includes proof that you are a registered UK business that operates from a UK-based warehouse. You’ll also need proof of a UK residential address as well as your business and warehouse address.

For both accounts, it’s worth checking TikTok’s listing policy before you start. There are two TikTok seller guides to take a look at: TikTok Shop prohibited products, and TikTok Shop restricted products.

3. Wait for your application to be approved

Once you’ve agreed to TikTok’s terms and conditions, and uploaded all your documentation, you’ll need to wait for your application to be approved. This can take 1-2 days, and you’ll have the result via email.

When your account is approved, don’t forget to link your bank account to your TikTok Shop so you can start taking payment once your orders roll in!

Listing Your First Product

There are lots of guides on how to set up TikTok Shop on the TikTok website, but the Seller Centre will guide you through your TikTok account setup:

General Info: Add at least 5 images, name your product (25-80 characters) with key details, choose a category, and ensure approval for branded items.

Product Details: Write a clear, keyword-rich description (under 500 characters), provide necessary attributes (e.g., sizing for clothing), and add a product video for better engagement.

Sales & Shipping: Set up variations with images, add pricing and stock levels, choose a TikTok-approved courier or TikTok shipping, and save as a draft or publish to start selling.
