What is Grailed?
Founded in 2013, Grailed is one of the biggest marketplaces for high-end fashion and designer clothing. The site prides itself on helping buyers find hard-to-find items from designer labels like Gucci, Ralph Lauren, Supreme, and Yeezy.
Boasting a community of over 8 million users, if you want to flip your designer wardrobe, Grailed is the place to do it.
How Does Grailed Work?
Grailed is all about helping users find their Grail — that specific piece of clothing you obsess about owning. There are no auctions. It’s about making fashionable clothing affordable for all.
Something to be aware of — Grailed is based in the US and so all prices on the site are shown in USD.
What About Grailed Fees?
It’s free to list your items on Grailed.
If your item sells, you’ll pay a 9% commission fee to Grailed.
In addition to your commission fee, you’ll also need to pay a payment processing fee for payments made through PayPal or Grailed payments (which is by invite only).
Grailed’s payment processing fees are:
For US domestic payments – 3.49% + 0.49 USD
For international payments – 4.99% + 0.49 USD
If you’re using Grailed outside the US, the international payment processing fee may vary based on your PayPal billing address. PayPal’s Help Centre has more information on this.
Buyers will also have to pay sales tax, duties and import fees where applicable.
What are the Rules?
There is a code of conduct you must follow if you want to sell on Grailed.
Here are a few of the top rules.
- Be respectful. No bullying, harassment or hate speech.
- If a sale is initiated on Grailed, you must not link to other sites to complete the sale to avoid the Grailed fees.
- Your listing will be authenticated before it goes live on Grailed. Please respect the decisions of the Grailed Curation team and be aware that your listing may be modified at their discretion.
- You must keep your listings honest and accurate. Grailed does not accept fake or illegal replicas.
- Your items should be shipped quickly after selling — ideally within 72 hours and definitely no later than 7 days after your item has sold. If you send your item later than this, you risk your sale being cancelled.
How to Sell on Grailed
So, you’ve raided your wardrobe for your Grailed clothing — there are just a few more steps before you can get selling.
1. Set up Your Grailed Profile
You’ll need to set up a Grailed account before you can buy or sell on Grailed. It’s quick and easy. Just go to Grailed.com and click the ‘Sign Up’ button in the header. Enter your details and you’re ready to go.
Top Tip: the more you optimise your profile, the more trustworthy your profile will be. Get adding those profile pictures and bios!
2. List Your Items
To start selling, make a listing by going to your Home dashboard and clicking the ‘sell’ button. You can then fill in the details.
- Listing title: Add a descriptive name to help buyers find what they’re looking for. You should include the designer and colour if possible. But keep them below 7 words as Grailed stats show shorter titles perform better.
- Description: Give as much information as you can in your description. Make sure you include the designer, colour, the size shown in the label, the actual measurements of the item or how the item fits (for example it’s a small but fits like a medium), the condition (it’s new and has never been worn), details of any damage or wear and tear, the price you originally paid for the item, and let the buyer know what your shipping policy is.
- Photographs: include at least three photos of your item. Use a good camera, good lighting, and a plain background. You should upload multiple angles that show your item from the front, side, top, and bottom.
- Listing tags: you can add up to 10 listing tags per item with 32 characters. Similar to hashtags, make these clickable tags super relevant to your listing and they will boost your listing’s visibility.
- Pricing: Competitive pricing will help you sell your items quicker. You can research similar items on Grailed and price your item accordingly.
- Connect your PayPal account: you’ll need to connect a verified PayPal account to receive payments from your sales.
Once you’ve set up your listing, hit ‘publish’ and you’re ready to sell on Grailed!
3. Make the Sale
As with other sites like Vinted or Depop, you may have to be prepared to haggle to make your sale on Grailed. Pricing your item slightly higher to start with can leave you a little haggling room to allow you to sell your item at a fair price.
Above all else, be patient! It can take around twelve days to complete the average sale on Grailed — although the latest trend may sell much quicker.
How to Sell on Grailed Without PayPal
