Listing your stuff on Vinted is simple, but it can be tricky to get your items to stand out from the crowd.
Keep reading for our top four tips to boost your Vinted listings.
1. Use your photography to showcase your items
One of the best tips for Vinted sellers is to make sure your images are doing the heavy lifting.
You don’t have to invest in a professional camera set-up, but taking the time to plan your shots can be the key to how to get more views on Vinted:
- Multiple angles: You can upload up to 20 images when you list an item on Vinted, so make the most of them. For example, you could take a full-length, back, and side images, as well as pictures of the size label, care instructions, and any brand logos or special features. Make sure you choose the full-length shot to be the first image customers see when they’re browsing your listing—this is super important with things like trousers, dresses and coats so buyers can see the overall fit of the garment.
- Good lighting: Natural lighting is always best when it comes to showing off your items. As well as creating harsh shadows which can hide some details of your items, flash and artificial lighting can also make the colour look different which can lead to disappointed customers. A great tip is to set your items up on a table near a window, but if this isn’t possible, opt for diffused artificial lighting to minimise shadows.
- Neutral backdrop: Make your items stand out by photographing them against a plain and uncluttered background. A neutral wall or a light-coloured sheet works well to make sure your buyers only have eyes for your items.
- Well displayed: Think about how you display your items to show them off to their best advantage. If you’re selling clothing, consider displaying the items on a mannequin, or even modelling the items yourself—you can always crop or edit the image so your face doesn’t show.
- Show defects: This might sound counterintuitive, but honesty is always the best policy. No matter how small, if there are any problems with your item, take a picture and mention it in your description. Better to mention it upfront than have your customers complain when they receive it!
- Real photos: It's not a good idea use stock photography, and Vinted terms of use prevent you from using screenshots from other listings. Sticking to the original, unedited version of your own photographs will boost your authenticity and build trust with your buyers.
2. Work out the best time to list on Vinted
The best way to keep your items visible is to post regularly, but working out the best time to list on Vinted can supercharge your visibility.
Posting in the evenings after 7pm is best. This is the time when most people will have finished work and will be chilling out on the sofa and scrolling!
Also consider payday planning. The last working day of the month is when most people on a monthly salary will be paid, so posting high value listings around this time can be beneficial. Other popular payroll days are the 25th of the month, followed by the 28th and the 15th.
A question that gets asked often is ‘how many items can you list on Vinted?’ The answer is you can list as many items as you like. However, if you have 30 items to sell, it might be best uploading these in batches of four or five each evening so that you always appear at the top of the new listings.
Other good tips are to list your items in size groups, or by groups of similar items (e.g. baby toys). This can encourage buyers to bundle items to save on postage.
3. Boost your reputation
Having a positive reputation can significantly boost your listings on Vinted - and your sales!
As well as keeping your profile active, you should also update your bio with any information that will be helpful to your customers. For example, give details on when you'll be available to answer questions, or if you'll consider offers for bundle deals.
- Answer questions: By answering questions as quickly and with as much detail as possible, you’ll give your buyers a positive impression, something which is much more likely to translate into sales.
- Positive feedback: Giving feedback is just as important as receiving it. Make a point of leaving seller feedback once a transaction is complete. Not only will this boot your authenticity, but it will encourage your buyers to reciprocate and post a positive review in return.
- Holiday mode: Planning a break? Don’t leave your buyers wondering where you are—Vinted have a handy ‘Holiday Mode’ that you can use to let customers know you won’t be around to ship items during certain dates. This is great news when you want to keep listings live while you’re away, but don’t want to risk cancellations because of delayed shipping.
- Build a following: You don’t have to have a huge (or any) following to make sales, but it can help boost your visibility. Remember that more followers mean more eyes on your listings.
4. Investigate paid ways to increase your visibility
Vinted offers a few paid options to amplify your listing’s visibility:
- Bumping items: Bumping items is a great way to go, particularly if you have something you want to sell quickly. But what does bumped mean on Vinted? All it means is that, for a small fee, your listing will be bumped to the top of the search results, giving it increased visibility for a certain amount of time.
- Spotlight wardrobe: This paid feature promotes and matches your listing to members most likely to buy them. As well as seeing your items in their search results and newsfeed, Members can check out your entire wardrobe in just a few taps.
- Collections: Perfect for attracting buyers, this new feature allows you to build themed collections similar to Pinterest boards. Once you've built your collection, you can feature them on the Vinted homepage and link buyers directly to your wardrobe.
